The City of Virginia Beach, with the help of nearly 60 local volunteers, collected more than 55 bags, or nearly one ton, of waste and debris from two locations in the City on Saturday, May 17. As part of Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup (GAC), the effort resulted in a cleaner and more beautiful Cape Henry Trail and the area at the corner of London Bridge Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard. Volunteers from Reality Church, the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center (NMITC), and the Virginia Beach Clean Community Commission dedicated time and energy as part of the City’s initiative of “Keeping Virginia Beach Beautiful.”
The City worked with Virginia Beach Clean Community Commission, askHRgreen.org, Keep Virginia Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful to continue building an even cleaner, more sustainable city. This 3rd annual event was a multi-departmental initiative coordinated by the Departments of Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Police, and the Office of Volunteer Resources.
