Hampton Roads residents who routinely take their recycling cart to the curb are taking a great first step at being good environmental stewards. But the recycling industry is constantly changing and recycling services now extend beyond curbside service. This America Recycles Day, Nov. 15, askHRgreen.org encourages residents to think beyond curbside recycling and consider all the various recycling services offered by your city or county.
WHAT: America Recycles Day, an initiative of Keep America Beautiful. Hampton Roads cities and counties celebrate by hosting a variety of recycling collection events and showcasing recycling services that some citizens may not know are available year-round.
WHEN: Commemorated Nov. 15; Hampton Roads localities host special recycling events on or around this date
DETAILS: Each city or county will be celebrating in a different way and highlighting local recycling services. Many include the collection of items that aren’t accepted through curbside recycling such as electronics, plastic bags, ink and toner cartridges, household hazardous waste, documents for shredding, unwanted household items and clothing.
