National Drug Take Back Day

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. That's why it's important to clean out your medicine cabinets and turn in unwanted medications - safely and anonymously - for safe disposal. Medication should never be flushed down the toilet or rinsed down the drain. Household drains lead to a wastewater treatment plant that can cleanup dirty water but are not intended to treat and remove medication. When medications are dissolved into wastewater, they may be unintentionally discharged back into our waterways. Dispose of medications safely at home or visit a safe disposal site using the locator below. Find a collection site for safe disposal at https://www.dea.gov/takebackday
