Be a part of one of the biggest volunteer efforts in the NATION with the Great American Cleanup! Join one of our organized cleanup events or you can gather your family, friends, colleagues, sports team, church group, scout troop, or social club to organize your own cleanup - just tell us where and when and we'll provide the supplies you need to make it a success! We're going big in 2026 to celebrate America's 250th Anniversary!
Celebrate Earth Day with a free showing of The Lorax movie. Meet with local environmental groups and take a picture with the Lorax after the movie!
Join Chesapeake Parks, Recreation, and Tourism for a wonderful bus tour adventure to visit and learn about BIG trees throughout Chesapeake. Space is limited, registration is required.
Celebrate Earth Day with Hampton Clean City Commission at Bluebird Gap Farm. The event will feature interactive and educational activities, including an art show, games and demonstrations, all with an environmental focus.
Repair, reuse, recycle! Bring your textiles, jewelry, small appliances, furniture, or bicycles to be fixed for free. Save it from the landfill!
Come help beautify Chesapeake parks with a fun trash can painting contest! We have 50 trash cans available for painting. They will be assigned on a firstcome, first-serve basis. We will provide paintbrushes and paint. Please bring your creativity and wear clothing you are comfortable getting paint on. Paint as an individual or as a group. After the event, photos of the trash can designs will be posted to the Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism Facebook page where you can vote by “reacting” your favorites.
