Let’s face it, it’s easy for us all to get used to the same old, same old domestic routines. This July 4th, spark some change! We want to encourage you to start your own revolution and declare your household’s independence from these five common culprits:

  • Garbage disposals. After the barbecue and firework festivities are through, toss your picnic scraps and leftovers into the trash, not down the drain. The disposal can actually do more harm than good to your kitchen pipes so skip the grind this time.
  • Plastic Bags. Keep a reusable bag with you at all times to avoid having to use those store-provided plastic bags. Reusable bags hold more goods and they’re a lot more stylish than anything you would ever be handed from the local checkout line!
  • Bottled Water. Why settle for expensive store-bought water when you can have fresh clean water from the tap for a thousandth of the cost? Grab a reusable bottle and fill ‘er up. And don’t forget to check out the TapIt locations across the region that will help keep you hydrated while you’re on the move.
  • Junk Mail. Make history out of your junk mail by removing your name from unsolicited mailing lists and opting out of receiving directories. Click here for some quick and easy links to reduce your mailbox clutter.
  • Fertilizer. Break free from the cycle and make a soil test part of your lawn care routine instead. Knowing your grass and its specific needs can lead to a healthier lawn that is sure to make you the envy of the neighborhood.
