Spring has sprung and soon it will be summertime. While many of us are looking forward to beach days, barbeques and hanging out with family, some of us are looking for a summer job or if you are a student, perhaps you are looking for an internship? Well than, do I have some great news for you! The HRSD Boater Education and Pump Out Program is currently hiring for the Summer 2022 Season and looking for energetic marina interns. The goal of the program is to promote the proper disposal of sewage from boat holding tanks in order to protect public health and the waterways of Hampton Roads. Marina Interns are an essential part of the Program, as the vast boating community has relied on the program since 1996 to ensure boaters have a safe means to pump out their on-board toilets. Marina Interns work in teams of two to provide a pump out service and educate boaters and the public on the hazards of dumping waste into our local waterways. The Summer Season runs Memorial Day – Labor Day and is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Since 2015 marina interns have pumped out over 200,000 gallons of raw sewage that had the potential to end up in our local waterways. What better way to spend your summer weekends than making a difference in our local community all while making new friends, enjoying the sunshine, and getting paid! Did I forget to mention this is a paid internship at $15 an hour?

If you are interested in becoming a part of the team apply at https://www.hrsd.com/careers, hurry the deadline to apply is April 1, 2022.
