I’m getting really excited about the next Chesapeake Recycles Day coming up on October 19. I have sensitive documents for shredding, tons of plastic bags, a few old electronics and I’m pretty sure the husband has a container of used motor oil and some old paint in his shed. We are ready to clean house the responsible way by recycling and properly disposing of hazardous materials!
The first Chesapeake Recycles Day was this past summer and the response was greater than we could have imagined. Everyone who came was just gushing with happiness to responsibly dispose of their old electronics, household hazardous waste and paper for shredding. They begged us to have these events more often!
Well, we heard them loud and clear. Now Chesapeake will offer a recycling event four times a year! And now we’ll also take plastic bags, clothing/household and other general recyclables.
It’s amazing how much our community is willing to recycle when the opportunity to do so is available! What would you recycle if there was an opportunity to do so? (My answer would be EVERYTHING!)
Please join us at the upcoming Chesapeake Recycles Day on Saturday, October 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at Woodland Heights Baptist Church, 529 Providence Road, Chesapeake. For information on what’s accepted, the Chesapeake Recycles Day website.
