Local Projects. Lasting Impact.
Environmental progress often starts with one classroom, one neighborhood or one community group ready to take action. Through askHRgreen grant programs, residents, educators, organizations and businesses can bring practical green projects to life across Hampton Roads.
askHRgreen currently supports several grant opportunities, including Environmental Education Mini Grants of up to $500 for youth-focused environmental projects, free pet waste stations for eligible neighborhoods and community groups, and free cigarette waste receptacles for eligible businesses while supplies are available.
Hampton Roads Great American Cleanup
The Hampton Roads Great American Cleanup brings volunteers together to remove litter, improve community spaces and help keep local neighborhoods, parks, roadways, beaches and waterways beautiful.
As part of this regional effort, residents and community groups can take part in cleanup and beautification projects that support healthier, more connected communities across all 17 cities and counties in Hampton Roads.
Recycling LOVE Sign
The Recycling LOVE Sign brings a creative message about recycling and waste reduction to public spaces throughout Hampton Roads. Created by students from Suffolk Public Schools College & Career Academy at Pruden, the traveling sculpture was designed as part of askHRgreen’s Start Smart, Recycle Right public awareness campaign.
Filled with recyclable bottles and cans, the sign helps spark conversations about reducing waste, recycling correctly and caring for the region we all share.
