askHRgreen.org exists to make environmental education simple, practical and local. Our mission is to help Hampton Roads residents, businesses, schools and communities understand how everyday choices can protect our waterways, reduce waste, conserve resources and support a cleaner, healthier region.

Through trusted guidance, regional collaboration and community-focused programs, askHRgreen.org connects people with the information and inspiration they need to take action at home, at work, in the classroom and throughout their neighborhoods.

A Regional Resource With a Local Purpose

Hampton Roads is connected by water, shared natural spaces and the everyday choices we make across our communities. askHRgreen brings local governments, regional partners and environmental experts together to provide clear, consistent information residents can use.

As a program administered through the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, askHRgreen helps coordinate public education across the region so communities can work together toward common environmental goals.

What We Do

Educate

We share practical information that helps people understand local environmental issues, from recycling and waste reduction to water conservation, stormwater pollution and healthy outdoor spaces.

Engage

We create programs, campaigns and resources that encourage residents, schools, businesses and community groups to take part in protecting Hampton Roads.
