Meet the People and Partners Helping Hampton Roads Go Green
Together, the askHRgreen team provides trusted guidance, practical resources and public awareness programs that help residents, businesses, schools and communities protect local waterways, reduce waste, conserve resources and care for the place we call home.
Leadership
Katie Cullipher
Director of Communications
Katie Cullipher helps lead regional communications and public education efforts for askHRgreen and the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission. A Hampton Roads native, Katie brings experience in community outreach, tap water education, water conservation and healthy drains messaging to her work across the region.
She helps make environmental information easier to understand, easier to find and easier to act on for residents throughout Hampton Roads.
Rebekah Estep
Senior Environmental Education Planner
Rebekah Eastep supports askHRgreen’s environmental education and planning efforts with a background in environmental policy and a focus on water resources management. Her experience across Hampton Roads communities helps inform practical, locally relevant resources for residents and partners.
Through her work with askHRgreen, Rebekah helps educate the public about the value of the region’s natural resources and the simple steps we can all take to protect them.
Committees
Behind the Work
askHRgreen is supported by four committees that focus on key environmental priorities across Hampton Roads. Each committee brings together local expertise, regional coordination and public education to help communities take meaningful action.
Fats, Oils & Grease Education
The Fats, Oils & Grease Education Committee helps residents understand how everyday habits in the kitchen can affect local pipes, wastewater systems and waterways. By sharing simple guidance on how to properly dispose of grease, the committee helps prevent clogs, sewer backups and pollution across the region.
Recycling & Beautification
The Recycling & Beautification Committee supports cleaner communities through recycling education, litter prevention and beautification efforts. Its work helps residents recycle correctly, reduce waste and take part in local actions that keep Hampton Roads neighborhoods, parks, roadways and waterways beautiful.
Stormwater Education
The Stormwater Education Committee helps communities understand how rainwater runoff can carry pollution into local storm drains, rivers and streams. Through public education and outreach, the committee encourages everyday actions that reduce runoff pollution and protect the health of Hampton Roads waterways.
Water Awareness
The Water Awareness Committee promotes the value of safe, reliable drinking water and the importance of using water wisely. Its work helps residents learn where their water comes from, how to conserve it and why protecting water resources matters for the future of Hampton Roads.
