The Scoop on Poop

« Online Media Toolkit

Let’s keep it clean out there!

Dog poop is not a fertilizer! In fact, it will have the opposite effect. Instead of turning your grass green, it will cause burns and unsightly discoloring to your lawn. Not picking up after your dog is also harmful to humans, other animals and our waterways. When it rains, pet waste can be washed into the storm drain which leads directly to our streams, bay and ocean. The nitrogen, phosphorus, parasites and other bacteria in dog waste pollutes the water we swim in and harms aquatic life. What can you do? Scoop it, bag it and trash it in the garbage.
