Protect your yard with mulch!

Mulch helps control erosion, retain moisture and stabilize soil temperature.

A two-inch layer of mulch material, such as fir bark, pine needles or wood chips, reduces water loss to maintain uniform soil moisture around roots.

Mulch also can reduce or eliminate weeds that rob landscape plants of moisture, nutrients and sunlight.

Protect your plants, shrubs and trees by following these easy mulching tips:
Remove all weeds first. It's easier to weed in the early spring before the roots become established.
Work a thin layer of mulch into the soil, and then add two to four inches on top. Spread it out, and avoid making big mounds of mulch.
Mulch the entire root area of the plant out as far as the leaves extend.
